Company Info
ProMiles Canada Inc. (PMC) was incorporated in July 1996 and its Administrative and Sales Offices are located in Bowmanville, Ontario.
The Canadian operations for ProMiles are administered by Bryan Bridgwater (retired 2002) and Mark Bowie. Both are extremely enthused about the future of ProMiles in Canada. PMC was effectively launched in Canada at TruckCan 96 in November, 1996 at the International Centre in Toronto, and it was the first product available that was able to route using both Canadian Postal codes and U.S. Zip codes.
PMC through its associations has literally "put ProMiles on the map in Canada" to the point where it is fast becoming a household name in the Industry. As Mr Bridgwater says, "ProMiles maps Canada" for the Transportation Industry.
Mark Bowie has extensive background knowledge of both management and computer technology. Upon receiving his CNA and Diploma in PC Support from the Institute for Computer Studies in North York, Ontario, Mark took a position as a technician in the Solution Centre at IBM Canada. After several months of hands-on technical work, Mark realized he would prefer to work with software and have more personal contact with clients. So he started his own company called MSB Installations, and through a mutual friend at Truckers Aid Ontario, met Bryan Bridgwater, of PMC. Mark and Bryan hit it off and have been working together successfully ever since.
Bryan's experience with the Transportation Industry came through his involvement as Audit Manager for the Ontario Government Fuel Tax Branch (where he took an early retirement). Bryan spent the last 10 years traveling widely both in the U.S.A. and Canada monitoring fuel tax audits and ensuring fairness to the taxpayer. During this time, Bryan was a witness to all the progress that has been made with computer mileage programs facilitating the expediency of Fuel Tax reporting. He says, "ProMiles, with all the features, is without doubt the most complete and reasonably priced product of its kind available to the Transportation Industry."
Bryan and Mark have licensed ProMiles to companies such as Rentway Ltd., Economy Group, Greyhound Canada, Customized Transportation, OK Express, Thomson Terminals, Ryder Logistics and Wesbell, just to mention a few. The company also tries to make the product affordable by helping to administer "Group Discounts" where several Companies within a certain area get together and a "Group Demonstration" is arranged. The price of the product is discounted based on the number of Companies participating.
Bryan and Mark are very receptive to suggestions and input from across Canada. For example, the Cooperative Dairy in Nova Scotia and Kingsco Transport located in New Brunswick have both recently provided a considerable amount of information on the routings in those Provinces, all of which will be included in ProMiles 98. This up-to-date information naturally helps to keep ProMiles well ahead of its competition.
According to Tony Stroncheck, Vice President of ProMiles Software Development Corp., "Having a Canadian office helps us better maintain our relationships with our Canadian customers. It also helps us keep abreast of the highway changes that are constantly taking place in Canada. Having Brian and Mark in Canada , we are able to get access to the details of major and minor changes to highways, bridges, locations and more in less time than any of our competitors. I feel this is a big advantage to our customers, since our competitors are all only located in the United States. Who knows Canada like a Canadian knows Canada? For example, ProMiles 98 will be the first program to include the 407 and 416 Highways in Ontario and the Confederation Bridge joining Prince Edward Island to the New Brunswick Mainland."
Tony Stroncheck says, "Road Legal Inc and PMC are just one big family providing the Transportation Industry with an awesome product which one has to see to appreciate.". Without a doubt, both Road Legal Inc. and PMC are excited about the future of ProMiles in both the U.S. and Canada.
